A big appetite

I think Maia’s about to hit a growth spurt. We arrived home this evening and she ate not one, but TWO sandwiches and then asked for a slice of cheese. Then again, when I brought her the cheese she said,

“Nah. My brain says yes but my tummy says no.”



Maia is using words like “adorbs”. Part of me thinks it’s cute and the other part wonders where I went wrong.

Candy thief

We stopped at the candy store on the way out of Ocean Shores and Maia said,

“I’m glad we’re not going to Uncle Cheese’s (Bob Stevens) house ’cause he might take all my candy.”

Kelli Clarkson’s a liar

Maia and I were listening to Kelli Clarkson …

Maia: “What did she say?”
Me: “She said, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.'”
Maia: “That’s not true. Gatorade doesn’t kill you but it also doesn’t make you stronger.”

Career aspirations

While driving Maia to school this morning …

“Papa, do you know what I want to be when I grow up? I know, this sounds a little weird, but you know what I wanna be?”

“Uh, no. What do you want to be? ”

“A garbage truck driver.”
